Ridge House was started in 1982 by the ecumenical Kairos ministry, whose members provide faith-based outreach in prisons to assist those who are incarcerated. They discovered, during visits in the 1970’s, a critical need for re-entry services to help reengage these individuals as they transitioned back into the community. This led to the first house in downtown Reno on Ridge Street which is, ironically,  between Court and Liberty. To this day, that is who we are; we are the bridge between court and liberty; incarceration and freedom. Through the years, Ridge House has established an effective process where clients not only learn to sustain their independence, but also gain a strong foundation on which to build healthy and wholesome lives.
