Press Release of Senator Ensign

ENSIGN TO JOIN RENO RIDGE HOUSE EXPANSION CELEBRATION

Thursday, October 21, 2004

Reno, NV – United States Senator John Ensign will join local community members for the opening of the new expansion at the Ridge House Keystone Campus. The Ridge House is a residential living facility for the criminal justice population in Reno that focuses on prevention, intervention and rehabilitation treatment. Senator Ensign secured $2 million to help facilitate this expansion.

“The Ridge House has done an incredible job rehabilitating criminal offenders and giving them the tools they need to continue living productively in our communities instead of returning to prison,” Ensign said. “The Ridge House has truly made the community safer, and this expansion will allow them to continue their work to keep Reno’s neighborhoods and families safe.”

The Ridge House offers residential treatment, during which clients are expected to obtain gainful employment, pay rent and perform chores. Clients are expected to remain clean and sober on and off the premises, and random drug tests are implemented. The Ridge House also offers individual counseling and group classes on drug and alcohol education, conflict resolution, parenting, career development, computer literacy and money management. They also offer outpatient substance abuse counseling.
